Scottie Scheffler wins 2024 Masters

The 2024 Masters is in the books and the pre-tournament favourite and one of The Sporting Base’s three best bets came out on top. Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey was not the wire-to-wire winner (Bryson DeChambeau of Modesto, California was the leader after round one), but it just seemed throughout the entire weekend that the world number one was the golfer in control.

At the end of the day, Scheffler won the 88th Masters of all-time by shooting a four-round score of -11. The 27-year-old won rather convincingly as he defeated his closest competitor, Ludvig Aberg of Sweden by four strokes. Aberg, who was competing in his first major tournament and is apparently a big fan of burrito bowls, shot a four round score of -7.

In the fourth round, Scheffler shot a score of four-under-par 68. He birdied the third, eighth, ninth, 10th, 13th, 14th, and 16th holes. The bogeys came on the fourth, seventh and 11th holes.

In the first round, Scheffler did not have a bogey. He had six birdies along the way including a stretch where he had four birdies in five holes. In the second round, Scheffler was even par, and in the third round, Scheffler shot a score of one-under-par. His most notable shot was an eagle on the 13th hole, the final hole of the famous Amen Corner stretch.

This was Scheffler’s second major title. The first was at the 2022 Masters. Scheffler posted a score of -10 and beat Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland by three strokes. Scheffler won despite a double bogey on the 18th hole.
