It was the quite the weekend for golf star Rory McIlroy of Holywood, Northern Ireland. On Thursday, he recorded the third hole-in-one as a professional golfer. Then on Sunday, McIlroy won his 27th PGA title by winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in northern California.

This was the second time in McIlroy’s career he has won a signature event on the PGA Tour. He previously won the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Over the weekend, McIlroy shot a four round score of -21. He had an opening round score of -6 at the Spyglass Hill Golf Course. McIlroy had his aforementioned ace on the par three 15th hole. He also had four birdies and zero bogeys on Thursday. McIlroy then shot a score of two-under-par in round two. The round was highlighted by a second eagle on the weekend with a score of three on the par-five 18th. McIlroy then had seven birdies on Saturday and a third eagle on Sunday where he posted a score of three on the par five 14th hole.

In a leaderboard filled with major champions, McIlroy beat Irishman Shane Lowry of Clara, Ireland by two strokes, and American Lucas Glover of Greenville, South Carolina and England’s Justin Rose of London by three strokes. Lowry finished at -19, while Rose and Glover were at -18.

McIlroy has won four majors in his career. They were the 2011 British Open, 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship and 2014 British Open. Glover won the 2009 United States Open, Rose won the 2013 United States Open, and Lowry won the 2019 British Open.
