Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski of Blue Springs, Missouri set a Major League Baseball record on Monday. He broke the record for the most pitches in a game of 100 miles per hour or more. Misiorowski had 57 pitches that reached the century mark in miles per hour in a 5-1 Brewers win over the St. Louis Cardinals at the American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The old record belonged to Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds. Ironically, Greene of Los Angeles, California, also accomplished the feat against the Cardinals. Greene had 47 pitches of 100 miles per hour or more on September 17, 2022 in a 1-0 Reds loss to the Cardinals.
On Monday night, Misiorowski had 96 total pitches. That means that 59.4% of his total pitches in the game were 100 miles per hour or more. Misiorowski threw seven innings and gave up only two hits, one earned run and one walk. He had 12 strikeouts, and picked up his fifth win of the season.
It was a strong start offensively for the Brewers. Milwaukee scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, headlined by a two-run home run by star designated hitter Christian Yelich.
For the season, Misiorowski has been outstanding. The 2025 National League All-Star has a record of five wins and two losses with an earned run average of 1.83. During 11 games and 64 innings pitched, Misiorowski leads the Major Leagues with 100 strikeouts. He has given up 34 hits, 13 earned runs, 19 walks and four home runs, to go along with a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 0.83.
The Brewers also beat the Cardinals 6-0 on Tuesday thanks to an excellent performance by starting pitcher Kyle Harrison of San Jose, California. Harrison threw six shutout innings and only gave up four hits.
Milwaukee leads the National League Central with a record of 32 wins and 20 losses. They lead the second place Cardinals by three and a half games.
