After a 10 day break on the PGA Tour after Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs, play resumed this past weekend with the newly sponsored Procore Championship. Previously known as the Fortinet Championship (and before that the Fry’s Electronic Open, the Frys.com Open, and the Safeway Open), this PGA event has taken place annually in the wine-rich region of  Napa Valley over the last decade.

On Sunday, Patton Kizzire of Montgomery, Alabama was victorious on the PGA Tour for the third time. The winner of the 2017 OHL Championship at Mayakoba and the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii, Kizzire’s victory at the Procore Championship was significant. That is because he won the tournament by the widest margin (five strokes). Kizzire had a four round score of -20, and beat David Lipsky of Los Angeles, California, who was at -15.

The previous record was two strokes, which occurred on five occasions. It was accomplished by 2016 PGA Championship winner Jimmy Walker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (2013), Bae-sang moon of South Korea (2014), Brendan Steele of Idyllwild, California (2017), 2009 British Open champion of Stewart Cink of Huntsville, Alabama (2020) and Sahith Theegala of Orange, California (2023). This was the second time in Kizzire’s career he was in contention at Napa. At the 2016 Safeway Open, Kizzire shot a four round score of -17, and was beaten by Steele by a stroke.

Over the last four days in Napa, Kizzire had a first round score of six-under-par 66, second round score of seven-under-par 65, third round score of five-under-par 67, and a fourth round score of two-under-par 70. Kizzire also had one eagle. It came on the par five fifth hole on Sunday.
