The FedEx Cup Playoffs wrap up on Sunday with the 2023 Tour Championship from Atlanta. Only 30 golfers will be competing and the event can be considered as golf’s version of Nordic Combined.  In the fascinating Olympic Winter Games competition, athletes who ski jumped the furthest get to start first in the cross-country skiing portion of the event. In golf, players who have accumulated the most FedEx Points to date are on top heading into Thursday. Let’s take a look at the three golfers who are on top and are the contenders heading into the weekend.

Scottie Scheffler

The world number one is at -10 and in first place. The 2022 Masters champion has been on top of the Official World Golf Rankings since May 21, and has now held the title of World Number One now for 49 weeks in his career. In 2023 Scheffler has won twice on the PGA Tour. The native of Ridgewood, New Jersey won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February and the lucrative Players Championships in March.
