Jannik Sinner of San Candido, Italy proved to the tennis world on Sunday why he is number one in the world rankings. Sinner delivered a win for the ages in the 2025 Wimbledon final, as he beat Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

One key statistic in the final on Sunday was double faults. Sinner had two double faults, while Alcaraz had seven. Sinner also broke Alcaraz four times in nine opportunities.

This was Sinner’s second title of 2025. The first title was also a major as he won the Australian Open in January. Sinner has now won four career majors. He won the Australian Open and United States Open in 2024.

In recording the win, Sinner became the eighth men’s player ever to win a major on three different surfaces (clay, grass and hard court). Sinner follows Americans Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi, Sweden’s Mats Wilander, Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, Switzerland’s Roger Federer and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic. Sinner is the second singles player this weekend to win a major on all three surfaces. Iga Swiatek of Warsaw, Poland accomplished the feat on Saturday. Swiatek also became the eighth women’s player to accomplish the feat. She followed Americans Chris Evert and Serena Williams, Czechoslovakia’s Martina Navratilova and Hana Mandlikova, Germany’s Steffi Graf, Russia’s Maria Sharapova, and Australia’s Ashleigh Barty.

Sinner also ended a losing streak to Alcaraz. Prior to the Wimbledon win by Sinner, Alcararaz had beaten Sinner five straight matches. The most memorable of the five was a dramatic five set match that Alcaraz won at the 2025 French Open.
