Two notable pass catchers have switched teams in National Football League free agency. On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings signed wide receiver Jauan Jennings of Cowan, Tennessee to a one-year contract worth up to $13 million according to the Associated Press. Then on Monday, the Los Angeles Chargers signed tight end David Njoku of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, to a one-year deal worth $8 million according to Rogers Sportsnet.

Jennings is joining his second NFL franchise after the last five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Njoku is also joining his second NFL franchise after the last nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

Jennings had 55 catches for 643 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2026. On December 14, Jennings had a multi-touchdown game as he caught passes of four yards and 13 yards from 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in a 37-24 49ers win over the Tennessee Titans.

This was the fourth multi-touchdown game of Jennings’s career. He had two touchdown catches in a 27-24 49ers overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams on January 9, 2022, three touchdown catches in a 27-24 49ers loss to the Rams on September 22, 2024, and two touchdown catches in a 38-13 49ers win over the Chicago Bears on December 8, 2024. For his career, Jennings had 210 catches for 2581 receiving yards and 22 touchdown catches.

Njoku had 33 catches for 293 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2026. For his career, Njoku has had two multiple touchdown games. Hew had two touchdown catches in a 31-27 Browns win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 10, 2023, and two touchdown catches again in a 41-32 Browns loss to the Denver Broncos on December 2, 2024.

In 2023, Njoku was selected to the Pro Bowl. That year, he had a career season with 81  catches for 882 receiving yards and six touchdown catches (all career-highs). For his career, Njoku 384 catches for 4062 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns.
