Yoshinobu Yamamoto shines as Dodgers beat the Brewers in NLCS

Just like the Seattle Mariners, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in complete control in the League Championship Series with two road victories. On Tuesday, the Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 thanks to a brilliant pitching performance by Yoshinobu Yamamoto of Bizen, Japan.

Just how spectacular was Yamamoto in game two of the best out of seven National League Championship Series? For the first time in his MLB career, he threw a complete game. Yamamoto threw 111 pitches of which 81 were strikes. Yamamoto also gave up only three hits, one earned run (which was a home run), and one walk, to go along with seven strikeouts.

There are three Japanese players on the Dodgers who are a major part of the franchise at the moment. Yamamoto is joined by multi-positional phenom Shohei Ohtani of Oshu and closer Roki Sasaki of Rikuzentakata. What we are seeing from Ohtani is simply generational, and the sizzling performances of Yamamoto and Sasaki cannot be overlooked.

The second game of the National League Championship Series, was a lot like the first game of the American League Championship Series. On Tuesday in Milwaukee, the only Brewers run in the whole game was a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning by Jackson Chourio. In the Blue Jays loss to the Mariners, the only run Toronto scored in game one was a George Springer leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning in a 3-1 Blue Jays loss.

As for the Dodgers offense in game two, Teoscar Hernandez and Max Muncy both homered. Teoscar Hernandez, Enrique Hernandez and Tommy Edman all had two hits.
