The first round of the 2021 Evian Masters is now in the books, and we have a two-way tie for the lead. Pajaree Anannarukarn of Thailand, and Yealimi Noh of the United States are both at -6 in the fourth women’s golf major of 2021.

Anannarukarn had six birdies and zero bogeys in round one. She birdied the third, eighth, ninth, 14th, 16th, and 18th holes. Noh meanwhile had five birdies, one eagle, and one bogey. She eagled the first hole, birdied the sixth, seventh, 14th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the fourth hole. Noh’s eagle was an approach shot from 126 yards that went into the cup.

Annarukarn and Noh are trying to be the second Thai player and second American player respectively to win a major in 2021. Patty Tavatanakit of Thailand won the ANA Inspiration in April, and Nelly Korda of the United States won the Women’s PGA Championship in June.

In a tightly contested field, there are 21 other women’s golfers in contention and within three strokes of Annarukarn and Noh. Five are tied at -5 and only one stroke back. There you will find Ayaka Furue of Japan, Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand, Jeongeun Lee6 of South Korea, Emily Kristine Pedersen of Denmark, and Lauren Stephenson of the United States.
