The fourth game of the 2019 American League Championship Series will be mostly remembered by the very sloppy defense of the New York Yankees. During the nine innings of play, the Yankees committed four errors in an 8-3 Houston Astros win.

According to FOX Sports, the four errors were the most errors the Yankees committed in a single postseason game since they committed five errors in a 7-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals in game two of the 1976 American League Championship Series. The Yankees went on to win the series three games to two before they were swept in four games to the Cincinnati Reds in the 1976 World Series.

Two of the errors were committed by Yankees first baseman DJ LeMahieu, and the other two were committed by Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres. The Yankees committed only two errors in their first seven postseason games combined of 2019.

Offensively, the Astros won with two three-run home runs. The first came off the bat of George Springer in the third inning and the second came off the bat of Carlos Correa in the sixth inning. Alex Bregman led the Astros with two runs scored and Michael Brantley led the Astros with two hits (both singles).

On the mound, Ryan Pressly recorded the win as he had two strikeouts to relieve starting pitcher Zack Greinke, who only gave up one earned run in four and a third innings of work. The Astros can advance to their second World Series in three years on Friday as they play the New York Yankees in the fifth game of the American League Championship Series. The Astros lead the best out of seven series three games to one.
