Wizards star shooting guard Bradley Beal out for season with wrist surgery

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Washington Wizards star shooting guard Bradley Beal of St. Louis, Missouri will be out for the remainder of the 2021-22 National Basketball Association season due to season-ending wrist surgery. Beal suffered a torn scapholunate ligament in a 115-95 Wizards loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on January 29.
The loss of Beal is gigantic to a Wizards team that is now ice cold after a great start. They have only won two games of their last 10 contests. Washington began the 2021-22 NBA season by winning 10 of their first 13 games. Since then, they have had a record of 14 wins and 26 losses.

How bad have the Wizards been? Well they were spanked 121-100 in their last game in a loss to the Miami Heat, and have only won two games since January 15. Scoring points without Beal is going to be a problem. Washington has scored the fifth fewest points in the East at 106.8 points per game.
Beal leads Washington in scoring this season with 23.2 points per game and 6.6 assists per game. However, he is also leading Washington with 3.4 turnovers per game. Beal also has 4.7 rebounds per game, a field goal percentage of .451, a three-point percentage of .300, and a free throw percentage of .833.
Washington does have depth after their blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Lakers involving Russell Westbrook in the offseason. But the loss of Beal is significant in their attempt to make the postseason. Washington is currently on the outside looking in of the NBA Play-In tournament as they are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
