Wizards and Heat deliver Wednesday upsets

The National Basketball Association is in the final month of the regular season. On Wednesday, there were two significant upsets. As a 10.5 point underdog, the Miami Heat spanked the Boston Celtics 124-103, and as a 14 point underdog, the Washington Wizards defeated the Sacramento Kings 116-111.

The Heat are the second team within the last two weeks to win by 20+ points after being an underdog by 10+. The other was the Chicago Bulls, who beat the Los Angeles Lakers 146-115 on March 22 after being a 10.5 point underdog.

Miami entered the game at 34 wins and 41 losses and Boston entered the game at 56 wins and 19 losses. Seven Heat players reached double digits in points. Shooting guard Tyler Herro of Milwaukee, Wisconsin had 25 points, center and power forward Bam Adebayo of Newark, New Jersey had 21 points, forward Kyle Anderson of New York, New York had 19 points, shooting guard Pelle Larsson of Stockholm, Sweden had 16 points, point guard Davion Mitchell of Hinesville, Georgia had 13 points, while shooting guard Alec Burks of Grandview, Missouri and forward Haywood Highsmith of Baltimore, Maryland had 10 points each.

Washington entered the game at 16 wins and 59 losses. Sacramento entered the game at 36 wins and 39 losses. The Wizards had six players who reached double digits in scoring. Guard Jordan Poole of Milwaukee, Wisconsin had 23 points, point guard Bub Carrington of Baltimore, Maryland, and shooting guard A.J. Johnson of Fresno, California had 19 points each, center Tristan Vukcevic of Siena, Italy had 17 points, center Alex Sarr of Bordeaux, France had 15 points, and power forward Anthony Gill of High Point, North Carolina had 11 points. Meanwhile, small forward Justin Champagnie of Brooklyn, New York led the Wizards with 11 rebounds.
