The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable have placed themselves in contention to take out their first Group 1 Trainer’s Premiership with their amazing success in the 2022-23 season.

After their dominance at the Adelaide carnival, where they won three of the four Group 1 races including The Goodwood with Royal Merchant they have now trained ten Group 1 winners for the season.

Both Chris Waller and James Cummings have trained one more winner and they share the lead on 11 winners.

The Brisbane carnival will be the last battleground for Group 1 supremacy with five races remaining.

Waller has the favourite in the Queensland Derby with Kovalica at $1.80. The Sydney training maestro has won the past nine Group 1 premierships.

Maher and Eustace will be represented by Promises Kept who is $8. He ran second in the South Australian Derby and if he had of won that would have given them a clean sweep in the main races held in Adelaide.

One premiership they will dethrone Waller in is for the total number of winners for the season.

They are on 279 winners at an amazing strike rate of 18.5% while Waller has trained 241.

With their footprint increasing in New South Wales, they will get bigger and bigger. With that more winners will come and they are the heir apparent to replace Waller as the country’s biggest and most successful trainers.
