Who is the best women’s golfer right now?
7 months ago - Sportingbase
As we are approaching the fifth and final major of the women’s golf season next weekend in Wales, there is an interesting debate brewing. Who is the top women’s golfer at the moment? There is no debate on the men’s side as British Open champion Scottie Scheffler has a dominant lead on the rest of the pack. However, in women’s golf there is a tight race going on at the moment between American Nelly Korda of Bradenton, Florida, and Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul. Korda is averaging 10.19 points per tournament, while Thitikul is averaging 9.99 points per tournament. Even though Korda is number one because she has the highest average number of points per tournament, it is Thitikul that has the most total points with 409.66. Korda is second with 366.89.

In 2025, Korda or Thitikul have not won a major as of yet. This brings Australian Minjee Lee into the mix. At world number five (behind New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and China’s Ruoning Yin), Lee could be considered the best women’s golfer right now based on the fact she has been in the top three in the last two majors (won the Women’s PGA Championship and finished third at the Evian Masters).
Heading into today it is Lee who is the betting favourite for the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open in Dundonald Links. Lee’s odds to win are 10-1, which are slightly better than Korda at 12-1. As round one is still taking place, Lee and Korda are tied for seventh place, and two strokes back of the leader, Charlotte Thompson of England. Thitikul is not competing this week in Scotland.
