This is exciting time in the 2020 National Football League regular season, with a lot on the line with multiple games in week 17. Yesterday, we analyzed what five times needed to do in order to make the playoffs in the American Football Conference. Today, we will look at the National Football Conference.

Let’s start in the NFC East. Here, three teams below .500 have a chance of not just making the playoffs, but winning the division, and hosting a playoff game as well. The Washington Football Team and Dallas Cowboys are currently tied for first with a record of six wins and nine losses, with the New York Giants in third place with a record of five wins and 10 losses.

On Sunday, the Giants play the Cowboys, while the Washington Football Team plays the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington controls its own destiny. A win, and they are in, no matter what happens between Dallas and New York. A Washington loss, and the winner of the Cowboys and Giants game gets in.

In the rest of the conference, the other three division winners have already been decided. The New Orleans Saints have won the NFC South, the Green Bay Packers have won the NFC North, and the Seattle Seahawks have won the NFC West. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already clinched a playoff spot.

That leaves three more teams battling for two more wildcard spots. On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Rams (9-6) face the Arizona Cardinals (8-7). The winner is in the playoffs. The Rams still get in if the Chicago Bears (8-7) lose to the Green Bay Packers, no matter how they do against Arizona. However, the Rams are eliminated if they lose to the Cardinals, and the Bears beat the Packers.

The Bears are in with a win, and still get in if the Rams beat the Cardinals, regardless of how they do against the Packers. The Cardinals finally cannot lose to the Rams and make the playoffs. A win, and they are in, but can still make the postseason with a tie against the Rams, and a Bears loss to the Packers.
