WALLER WANTS THE INGHAM

CHRIS Waller has a strong connection with the Ingham family and he’s gang tackling their feature race the $2 million The Ingham (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Waller will have six runners in the 20 horse field with several of them drawn poorly.
The Ingham, formerly known as The Villiers, has been Sydney’s feature December event for many years and amazingly the master trainer has only had success in it on one occasion.

Waller said the Ingham family put him on the map in Sydney racing.
His six starters are: New Mandate (barrier 17), Osipenko (24), No Compromise (21), Hinged (7), Waterford (13) and Age Of Kings (8).
Waller said the lure of the $2 million prizemoney for the race had ensured he had kept some of his horses in work longer to tackle the race.

Waller said The Ingham was a typical feature Randwick mile event with as many as ten good chances.
The shortest priced horse of Waller’s six runners with Playup is Osipenko who is equal second favourite at $8.50.
Osipenko has drawn the outside barrier of 20 but Waller is hoping his class will carry him a long way.
“He’s racing as well as ever. He wasn’t suited by the wet track at Kembla but he still ran third,” Waller said.
Waller’s next best push was for Hinged saying she’s a Group 1 horse in a Group 2 race.

He said her eighth in the Empire Rose Stakes behind Pride Of Jenni and Atishu was a good run as it has turned out to be the form race of the spring.
“There’s a lot to like about her last start. That was the form race of the carnival and she got back and worked home well on a day not a lot made ground.”
Waller said Hinged, a $20 chance, was drawn well and would be ridden by a good jockey in Zac Lloyd.
Waller has placed the blinkers on his $15 chance Waterford who he said was in the wrong part of the track when he finished fifth in The Gong.
