Utah Jazz set franchise record for most points in a playoff game

The Utah Jazz set a franchise record for most points in a playoff game on Wednesday in a 141-129 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to Angelo Guinhawa of Clutch Points, the previous Jazz record for most points in one game was 131 points. That happened in a 131-123 Jazz win over the Denver Nuggets in game three of the Western Conference semifinals on May 4, 1985.
In the Jazz win over the Grizzlies in game two of the Western Conference quarterfinals to tie the series at one game apiece, Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York led Utah with 25 points. The Jazz star had missed the first game of the series with an ankle injury, and only played 26 minutes in game two.
Mitchell was one of three Jazz players to eclipse the 20-point mark. Center Rudy Gobert of Saint-Quentin, France had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, point guard Mike Conley of Fayetteville, Arkansas also had a double-double as he had 20 points and 15 assists.

There is no doubt the driving force of the Jazz offence is Mitchell. A year ago, he had two 50-point performances against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference quarterfinals. However, it was not enough, as the Jazz were beaten in seven games.
In order for Utah to avoid a first-round upset again, they will need a more complete performance by their entire unit. That includes consistent outings off the bench from Joe Ingles and Jordan Clarkson, and strong chemistry among the starting unit.
