At the beginning of the week, we discussed all the top seeded players at Wimbledon who had shockingly been knocked out. Now it is time to look at the unsuspecting players who still have a chance to win a grand slam title.

On the men’s side, those left include lucky loser Marton Fucsovics of Hungary (ranked 105), and qualifiers August Holmgren of Denmark (ranked 192nd), and Nicolas Jarry of Chile (ranked 143rd). There are also nine other unseeded men’s players left. They are Australia’s Jordan Thompson, Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie (2022 Wimbledon semifinalist), Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak, Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic, 2014 United States Open champion Marin Cilic of Croatia, Spain’s Jaume Munar, Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego, Spain’s Pedro Martinez, and Austria’s Sebastian Ofner.

The seeded players who have been knocked out by an unseeded player still left in the men’s draw are the 13th seed American Tommy Paul (beaten in the second round by Ofner, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 7-5), fourth seed Jack Draper of Great Britain (beaten in the second round by Cilic, 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4), 28th seed Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan (beaten in the first round by Munar, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2), 30th seed Alex Michelsen of the United States (beaten in the first round by Kecmanovic, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6), 32nd seed Matteo Berrettini of Italy (beaten by Majchrzak in the first round, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3), eighth seed Holger Rune of Denmark (beaten by Jarry in the first round, 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4), and 12th seed Frances Tiafoe of the United States (beaten by Norrie in the second round, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5).

On the women’s side, those left are lucky loser Solana Sierra of Argentina (ranked 101st and pictured above), and 10 other unseeded players (Laura Siegemund of Germany, Sonay Kartal of Great Britain, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia, Hailey Baptiste of the United States, Zeynep Sonmez of Turkey, 2019 United States Open semifinalist Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy, 2022 Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins of the United States, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain, and Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine).

The seeded players who have been knocked out by an unseeded player still left in the draw are the 2025 Australian Open champion and sixth seed Madison Keys of the United States (lost 6-3, 6-3 to Siegemund in the third round), 2017 French Open champion and 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia (lost 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 to Kartal in the first round), 31st seed Ashlyn Krueger of the United States (lost 7-6, 6-4 to Pavlyuchenkova in the second round), third seed Jessica Pegula of the United States (lost 6-2, 6-3 to Cocciaretto in the first round), 2020 Australian Open champion and 28th seed Sofia Kenin of the United States (lost 6-1, 7-6 in the second round), and 2023 United States Open champion and 2025 French Open champion and second seed Coco Gauff of the United States (lost 7-6, 6-1 in the first round to Yastremska).
