UFC 232 provided monumental moments, capping off the year in style while shaping up the UFC’s 2019.

The moment of the night was Amanda Nunes knocking out Cris Cyborg, to become the first female to become a simultaneous double division champion.

In the whole organisation, only Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier have achieved the feat before Nunes.

Making her victory even more amazing was the manner of victory and her opponent.

Cris Cyborg had only ever lost once before, that defeat came in her very first professional fight.

She had never lost in the UFC and never been knocked out in her career.

Nunes, the bantamweight champion, stepped up a weight class, and was the underdog headed into the bout.

The fight only lasted 51 seconds, and every one of those was entertaining, as the two traded blows in an all-out stand-up battle.

Eventually, Nunes’ power proved too much, with Cyborg being sent to the canvas after taking multiple heavy punches.

In the headliner, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones returned from suspension in a rematch against Alexander Gustafsson.

The first meeting between the two went the distance in one of the best fights of all time.

The difference this time, was Jones’ success with takedowns and his targeting of Gustafsson’s legs with brutal kicks.

Jones took the Swede down in the third, methodically taking his back before unleashing a ground and pound that caused the fight to be stopped.

Jones took the light heavyweight belt, which was vacated by Daniel Cormier yesterday, while calling out his biggest rival in his post fight interview.

Earlier, the main card kicked off in great fashion with Aussie Alexander Volkanovski getting an impressive stoppage victory against Chad Mendes in the featherweight division.

Gustafsson’s teammate, Ilir Latifi, copped a loss in the light heavyweight division to Corey Anderson.

Also on the night, Michael Chiesa made a strong move up to 170lbs to submit Carlos Condit in the second round.
