Turbo declares he’s fighting fit after finals scare

Tom Trbojevic will play on Saturday as the Sea Eagles look to keep their 2024 NRL season alive, despite needing several painkilling injections before and during Manly’s two-point victory over the Bulldogs in the postseason’s opening week.
The Sea Eagles fullback has been battling injuries throughout the 2024 campaign, most recently missing the last weekend of the regular season with a grade three AC joint injury.

Questions immediately after the Sea Eagles overcame the Bulldogs in a stunning qualifying final turned to whether Turbo could even play on; he was seen grimacing repetitively in the first half of the match, even pulling up lame just before 40 minutes. He looked a whole lot better in the second stanza, and has now said he’s ready to fire.
“It’ll be fine. It’s a sore injury, so it is what it is, but I felt better in the second half,” Trbojevic said.
“Not sure how I looked, but I felt better. They’re just sore injuries.”
The biggest worries came from the fact that Turbo only lifted after getting a third needle at half-time, but coach Anthony Seibold has since come out and said it was always planned for him to get a boost.
“He did get another needle at halftime, but that was always planned,” Seibold said.
“He did land on it in the first half but you saw that he probably got a bit more involved in the second half.
“He’s fine. He’ll be right to go again.”
Trbojevic has been named at fullback to face the Roosters on Saturday and by all messages out of Brookvale there’s no reason to expect he won’t be there come 7.50pm when the clash begins.
