Tua Tagovailoa injury highlights Week 4 Thursday nighter

The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Miami Dolphins 27-15 on Thursday in one of the most intriguing Thursday night games of the 2022 National Football League season to date. The reason being is that the Bengals were the defending AFC Champions and were facing the current best team in the AFC, as the Dolphins were the only undefeated team in the American Football Conference after the first three weeks of the season.
The biggest story of the game came in the first half, as Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa of Ewa Beach, Hawaii was taken off on the field via a stretcher after being sacked by Bengals defensive tackle Josh Tupou of Long Beach, California. Tagovailoa was spun awkwardly, but there was deep concern when he placed his hands in front of his face, and lacked extreme coherency.

There will be significant controversy why Tagovailoa was even starting this game to begin with. This past weekend, he seemed to have suffered a serious head injury in a 21-19 Dolphins win over the Buffalo Bills. However, he remained in the game as the Dolphins stated he was suffering from a back injury and not a concussion problem. The National Football League Players’ Association put out a statement after the Bills game stating that their “investigation into the potential protocol violation is ongoing.” Well folks, after Thursday night’s injury, the NFLPA got a lot more information.
From a statistical standpoint on Thursday. the Bengals improved to 2-2 thanks to a solid game from Tee Higgins, who had seven catches for 124 yards and one touchdown. It was Higgins’s first 100-yard game since reaching the century mark in receiving yards in the Super Bowl.
