Tralee Rose Set For Big Staying Future

The Symon Wilde team have a handy Mare on their hands after Tralee Rose scored at Flemington in the TCL TV Stakes today.

The daughter of Tavistock came from midfield to win the 1700 metre race as the favourite, November Dreaming, flopped.

Trainer, Symon Wilde, is bullish on his Mare going forward after her fantastic winning performance.

“Yeah it is, it’s a fantastic thrill. It’ll give the team at home a bit of a boost.

“I think she’s got a really bright future – the further she goes the better she’s going to get,” Wilde said on the racing.com broadcast.

This was Tralee Rose’s second consecutive victory after her blistering 4.5 length maiden at Warrnambool on October 15.

“I think we were (expecting that performance), in that sort of field.

“Her last 400m in that race was fantastic – she really ran away from that field,” Wilde said.

Concerns over staying at the 1700 metres were expressed by Wilde be before the race – she put those to bed quickly.

“I probably prefer if this was a 2000m race – I’d be a lot more confident,” Wilde said.

The Wilde team forecast exciting times for Tralee Rose and are excited about her prospects moving forward.

“For her to do that over the 1700m today was fantastic.

“I think she’s got a really bright future – the further she goes the better she’s going to get.

“She’s a nice, big, sound horse, who is coming into her own now,” Wilde said.

Wilde heaped praise over senior jockey, Kerrin McEvoy, who put in a superb steer to get the 4-year-old mar over the line.

“She took a little while to get into gear. At the top of the straight she looked a little bit sort of green still. I think she got a really good ride from Kerrin who made use of that gate,” Wilde said.

Kerrin McEvoy, who notched his 49th win at Flemington with the result, re-affirmed Wilde’s thoughts on Tralee Rose on the racing.com broadcast.

“She was nice and fresh in herself going to the gates, so I thought she was feeling really well and that’s how she raced.”

“She popped out and travelled nicely for me and then found a bit of a flat spot. But she picked up and (did) if for me in the last furlong and a half,” McEvoy said.

Tralee Rose was well-backed from $6 to start $4.20 on TAB whilst the short price favourite, November Dreaming, drifted and subsequently flopped.
