NBA Free Agency began on Thursday. Here are six notable players who changed teams.


6) DeAndre Jordan–Denver Nuggets

The veteran center from Houston, Texas is a defensive specialist. He is headed west after coming to terms on a new deal with the Denver Nuggets. Jordan, who was an all-star with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017, led the NBA in rebounds per game twice. He had 13.6 rebound per game in 2013-14, and 15 rebounds per game in 2014-15. Last season Jordan shared his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.


5) Andre Drummond–Chicago Bulls

Another defensive specialist, Andre Drummond of Mount Vernon, New York signed a two-year deal worth $6.6 million with the Chicago Bulls. He shared his time last year with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. Four times in five years Drummond led the NBA in rebounds per game. A two-time All-Star with the Detroit Pistons in 2016 and 2018, Drummond’s career-high in rebounds were  16 with the Pistons in 2017-18.


4) Joe Ingles–Milwaukee Bucks

The runner-up of the 2021 NBA Sixth Man Player of the Year, Ingles signed a one year deal worth $6.5 million. In 2021-22, he played with the Utah Jazz. After tearing his ACL last year with Utah against Minnesota, Ingles, a native of Happy Valley, Australia, was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.


3) Lonnie Walker IV–Los Angeles Lakers

A shooting guard from Reading, Pennsylvania, Walker IV averaged 12.1 points per game in 2021-22 with the San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 2.6 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game. Walker IV had a field goal percentage of .407, three-point percentage of .314, and a free throw percentage of .784. Walker IV’s contract is one year, and $6.5 million.

2) Malik Monk–Sacramento Kings

Malik Monk is not switching states, just switching teams. He is leaving the Los Angeles Lakers for the Sacramento Kings. The native of Jonesboro, Arkansas signed a two-year deal worth $19 million. In 76 games, Monk averaged 13.8 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists per game, a field goal percentage of .473, three-point percentage of .391, and free throw percentage of .795. Monk only spent one season with the Lakers after four seasons with Charlotte.


1) Jalen Brunson–New York Knicks

A native of New Brunswick, New Jersey, Brunson had a breakout season for the Dallas Mavericks last year. He averaged 16.3 points per game, 4.8 assists per game, and 3.9 rebounds per game. Brunson also had a field goal percentage of .502, three-point percentage of .373, and free throw percentage of .840. However even though Brunson was solid for Dallas in the regular season, he was excellent in the playoffs. Brunson came to the forefront for Dallas when Luka Doncic was out with a minor injury, and scored 72 points in two games for the Mavericks in their first round series against the Jazz. Brunson’s contract is 4 years worth $104 million.
