Top five storylines from week seven of 2020 NFL regular season

We have now completed six weeks of the National Football League regular season and there were some very intriguing storylines to say the least. Let us take a look at the top five.

5) Baker Mayfield rebounds. There is no doubt it was a tough week six for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. The Browns lost 38-7 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Mayfield was clearly outplayed by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Heading into week seven, there was speculation that Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski would make the starting quarterback change and go with Case Keenum. Mayfield got the start however, and completed a Browns record 21 straight passes in a 37-34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

4) News keeps getting worse for the Cowboys. The disastrous season keeps getting worse for Dallas. The Cowboys were completely spanked 25-3 to the Washington Football Team and they lost quarterback Andy Dalton with a concussion as a result. Dallas may have to now start rookie Ben DiNucci next week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers are the only undefeated team. At 5-0, the Steelers are the only undefeated team in the NFL. On Sunday, in the NFL’s premier matchup of 4-0 clubs, the Steelers handed the Tennessee Titans their first loss of the season with a 27-24 victory. It was a breakout performance for Steelers wide receiver Dionate Johnson, who had nine catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

2) NFC West is spectacular. We all know how bad the NFC East is, but it is time to give the NFC West some love. All four teams are now above the .500 mark, with the Seattle Seahawks at 5-1, the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams at 5-2, and the San Francisco 49ers at 4-3. On Sunday night, the Cardinals beat the Seahawks 37-34 in overtime in a game that saw 1091 total yards of offense. The Rams meanwhile had an excellent defensive performance in a 24-10 win over the Chicago Bears on Monday, and the 49ers completely destroyed the New England Patriots 33-6 Sunday afternoon.

1) OBJ out for the year. The news was not all great for the Browns on Sunday. During the first quarter, Browns star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. tore his ACL while trying to make a tackle during an interception return. As a result, OBJ is done for the year. Now, Jarvis Landry becomes the Browns go-to receiver. Do not be surprised if Cleveland tries to acquire a receiver alongside Landry down the stretch.
