Top five storylines from week 2 of the 2024 NFL season

Week two of the 2024 National Football League season is now complete. Here are the top five storylines.

5) Carolina Panthers making a quarterback change.

After losing 47-10 to the New Orleans Saints and 26-3 to the Los Angeles Chargers in the first two weeks, the Panthers are benching 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for veteran Andy Dalton of Katy, Texas. Dalton will start Sunday in Las Vegas. Anyway you look at it, the Panthers made a huge error in drafting Young over C.J. Stroud.

4) Chiefs beat Bengals in an exciting finish.

The defending Super Bowl champions are 2-0 after beating an AFC North Division opponent for the second straight game. After beating the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 in week one, the Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-25 on a game-winning 51 yard field goal by Harrison Butker of Decatur, Georgia. In all, nine NFL teams are 2-0. The others are the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Chargers.

3) Green Bay Packers win their 800th game.

The Green Bay Packers have won the most games of any NFL franchise, and now they have won 800 games. On Sunday, they beat the Indianapolis Colts 16-10. The Packers were led by new running back Josh Jacobs of Tulsa, Oklahoma, who had 151 yards rushing.

2) Raiders upset the Ravens.

For the second straight week, the NFL’s biggest underdog came away with a win. Last week it was the 7.5 point underdog New England Patriots who beat the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10. This week it was the 8.5 point underdog Las Vegas Raiders who beat the Baltimore Ravens 26-23. The Raiders were one of eight underdogs to win week two. The others were the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns.

1) Alvin Kamara shines for the Saints.

It was an amazing game for Saints running back Alvin Kamara of Atlanta, Georgia. On Sunday in the Saints’s 44-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Kamara had 20 rushes for 115 yards and three touchdowns, and two catches for 65 yards and another major score. Kamara is the first Saints player to have four or more touchdowns in a game twice. He had six touchdowns in a 52-33 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day, 2020.
