The 2023 Masters begins on Thursday from the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. The tournament will bring significant intrigue as it will be the first Masters that will have the best PGA Tour players against the best the LIV has to offer. Here are the five best pairings of the 2023 Masters.

5) Tiger Woods/Viktor Hovland/Xander Schauffele

This pairing has 15-time major champion Tiger Woods of Cypress, California, Norway’s Viktor Hovland, who is ninth in the world, and reigning Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California. The greatest intrigue among the three is Woods, the 2019 Masters champion. How strong is Woods’s leg, and how much pain will he have walking the course?

4) Justin Thomas/Cam Young/Jon Rahm

This pairing has world number three and 2021 United States Open champion Jon Rahm of Spain, world number 10 and two-time PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas of the United States, and world number 14 Cameron Young of the United States. Young may be the only player among the three without a major title, but has a lot of potential, and is the reigning PGA Rookie of the Year.

3) Danny Willett/Gary Woodland/Brooks Koepka

All three players in this trio are major champions. Willett of Sheffield, England won the 2016 Masters, Woodland of Topeka, Kansas won the 2019 United States Open, and Koepka was the 2017 and 2018 United States Open champion, and the 2018 and 2019 PGA Championship winner.

2) Dustin Johnson/Corey Conners/Justin Rose

This trio has Dustin Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina, the 2016 United States Open champion, and the 2020 Masters champion, Justin Rose of London, England, the 2013 United States Open champion, and Canadian Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario, who won the 2023 Valero Texas Open this past Sunday.

1) Matthew Fitzpatrick/Collin Morikawa/Will Zalatoris

This intriguing group has Matthew Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England, the 2022 United States Open champion, Collin Morikawa of Los Angeles, California, the 2020 PGA Championship winner and the 2021 British Open champion, and Will Zalatoris of San Francisco, California, who has six top-six finishes at a major championship since 2020.
