Top five headlines from Week 5 of 2025 NFL season

The fifth week of the 2025 National Football League regular season is now finished. Here are the top five headlines.

5) Titans beat the Cardinals in wild Week 5 game.

In the wildest game of the week, and the result which knocked me out in my loser’s pool, the Tennessee Titans beat the Arizona Cardinals 22-21. This is a game the Cardinals should not have lost. Inexplicably, Cardinals running back Emardi Demercado dropped the football at the goal line on a 72 yard run that should have been a touchdown if it was not for his inept sloppiness. Also, Cardinals safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson intercepted the football, but remarkably dropped the football thereafter which landed in the end zone and picked up by wide receiver Tyler Lockett for a Tennesee touchdown.

4) Ravens look awful.

How did the Ravens get so bad so fast? On Sunday, they did not have quarterback Lamar Jackson with a hamstring injury, but were sloppy offensively and defensively in a 44-10 loss to the Houston Texans. Baltimore is 1-4 now, does not look like a playoff team, and certainly not one contending for the Super Bowl as we projected prior to the season.

3) Jaguars lead the AFC South.

The Jacksonville Jaguars only won four games last year. They have already won four games this year after stunning the Kansas City Chiefs 31-28 on Monday night. In the Jaguars win, Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a one-yard touchdown run for the game-winning touchdown with 23 seconds left. Jacksonville and Indianapolis are tied for first in the AFC South at 4-1.

2) Jets only NFL team without a win.

New York is the only NFL franchise without a victory this season. They dropped to 0-5 on Sunday after losing 37-22 to the Dallas Cowboys. Suddenly Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is on the hot seat.

1) No more undefeated teams left.

There were two teams to start the week undefeated. Now there are none. The Denver Broncos upset the Philadelphia Eagles 21-17 and the New England Patriots upset the Buffalo Bills 23-20.
