The third week one of the 2023 National Football League regular season is now complete. Here are the top five headlines.

5) Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson in legal trouble.

According to Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports on Monday, we now know the reason why Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson did not play on Sunday in the Chargers’s 28-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings. That is because there is a warrant out for his arrest. In 2021, Jackson was charged with criminal speeding and ordered to take a class. He has reportedly not paid a $300 fine, did not attend a Massachusetts court hearing, and did not complete the class.

4) Three upsets.

This past weekend, there were three significant upsets. The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans were both eight point underdogs, while the Arizona Cardinals, were an 11.5 point underdog. Some how and some way, the Colts, Texans and Cardinals all won. Indianapolis had 145 total yards and a touchdown from running back Zack Moss of Hialeah Gardens, Florida, and four field goals of 50+ yards from kicker Matt Gay of Orem, Utah in a 22-19 Colts overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens. Houston had 145 yards receiving from rookie wide receiver Tank Dell of Daytona Beach, Florida in a 37-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, the Cardinals had 116 total yards from running back James Conner of Erie, Pennsylvania in a 28-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

3) Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams out for the season.

The Los Angeles Chargers had a significant blow in their four point win over Minnesota. They lost wide receiver Mike Williams of Vance, South Carolina with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Prior to the injury, Williams had seven catches for 121 receiving yards and one touchdown.

2) Keenan Allen makes Chargers history.

Speaking of Chargers wide receivers, it was a massive day for Keenan Allen on Sunday. The native of Greensboro, North Carolina set the Chargers record for most receptions in a game with 18. He also had a career-high 215 receiving yards and a touchdown pass.

1) Dolphins offense explodes.

Just how big of a day did Miami have on Sunday in their 70-20, 50-point victory? Well, they became the fourth team in NFL history with 70 points in a game. Miami became the first NFL team ever with five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in a single game, and their 726 total yards were the second most in a single game in NFL history.
