The second major of the year takes place on Thursday. Here are the five best groups that golf fans need to keep an eye on at the 2025 PGA Championship from the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

5) Brooks Koepka/Rickie Fowler/Shane Lowry

This trio contains five-time major champion Brooks Koepka of West Palm Beach, Florida, 2019 British Open champion Shane Lowry of Clara, Ireland, and former world number four Rickie Fowler of Murrieta, California. Koepka’s major titles came at the 2017 and 2018 United States Open, and the 2018, 2019 and 2023 PGA Championship.


4) Jordan Spieth/Patrick Reed/Ludvig Aberg

This group contains major champions and Ludvig Aberg of Sweden, the world number six. Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas won the United States Open and Masters in 2015 and the British Open in 2017. Reed won the Masters in 2018. The PGA Championship is the only major that Spieth has not won yet. His best result was a second place in 2015, where he lost to Jason Day of Beaudesert, Australia by three strokes.


3) Justin Rose/Cameron Smith/Brian Harman

All three golfers in this group are major champions. Justin Rose of London, England won the 2013 United States Open, Cameron Smith of Brisbane, Australia won the 2022 British Open, and Brian Harman of Savannah, Georgia won the 2023 British Open.


2) Justin Thomas/Dustin Johnson/Colin Morikawa

This sizzling American trio are multiple major champions. Justin Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky won the 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina, won the 2016 United States Open, and 2020 Masters, and Colin Morikawa of Los Angeles, California won the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 British Open.


1) Rory McIlroy/Xander Schauffele/Scottie Scheffler

These are the the three best golfers in the world. They have combined to win nine major titles. Rory McIlroy of Holywood, Northern Ireland won the 2011 United States Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship, the 2014 British Open, and the 2025 Masters. Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California won the 2024 PGA Championship and the 2024 British Open. Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey won the Masters in 2022 and 2024.
