The 2023 NBA All-Star Game takes place Sunday in Salt Lake City. Here are the top five players who will not be participating in the game.

5) Keldon Johnson–San Antonio Spurs

Despite the fact the Spurs are having a horrendous season (14-45), it has been a solid season for San Antonio small forward Keldon Johnson (21.8 PPG, 4.7 RPG). In fact, Johnson leads all Western Conference players in scoring who are not going to the All-Star Game. The fourth year small forward was part of the United States men’s national team that won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.


4) Kristaps Porzingis–Washington Wizards

The center from Liepaja, Latvia is averaging 22.8 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game in 2022-23. Porzingis is actually averaging more points per game than than he did when he averaged 22.7 points and was an All-Star during the 2017-18 NBA season while with the New York Knicks.

3) Jalen Brunson–New York Knicks

The guard from New Brunswick, New Jersey is in his first season with the Knicks after four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. He is averaging 23.9 points per game, 6.2 assists per game, and 3.6 rebounds per game. Brunson also has a career best .411 three-point percentage as he has made 106 shots from downtown, also a career-high.


2) Zach Lavine–Chicago Bulls

The two-time All-Star from Renton, Washington was selected to play in 2021 and 2022, but not in 2022-23. So far this season, Lavine was averaging 24 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game.


1) Trae Young–Atlanta Hawks

The fifth-year point guard for the Atlanta Hawks was previously selected to the 2020 and 2022 NBA All-Star Games. This season he was averaging a double-double, 26.7 points per game and 10.3 assists per game.
