TNT Makes Strange Decision In Not Broadcasting Spurs And Clippers

It was a rather quiet Halloween on the NBA schedule as there were only three games played. However, TNT made a strange decision on Thursday in broadcasting the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks over what appeared to be the more interesting and appealing contest between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers.

Broadcasting the matchup between the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans was understandable. Prior to the start of the season, this had all the makings of being a very juicy game with Zion Williamson expected to be in the spotlight. That obviously was not the case as Williamson injured his meniscus prior to the start of the season and is out the next two months. However, the injury could not be foreseen by TNT when they decided on their television schedule. The Pelicans came out and had an impressive upset over the Nuggets and came away with a 122-107 win.

However, it was a surprise that TNT decided to broadcast the Heat and Hawks over the Spurs and Clippers. With no genuine superstars on the Hawks or Heat, TNT decided to go with this game with a lot of empty seats rather than a game that featured NBA stars Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan. Leonard scored 38 points in a 103-97 Clippers win at Staples Center.

Meanwhile, even though the Heat and Hawks matchup lacked vigour, the Heat are now at 4-1 after their 106-97 win over Atlanta last night. Miami’s most prolific performer to date is an undrafted rookie who is a shooting guard. Kendrick Nunn is averaging 22.4 points per game at the moment. On Thursday, Nunn had a career-high 28 points.
