Titans fire general manager Jon Robinson

The Tennessee Titans have decided to fire general manager Jon Robinson of Union City, Tennessee according to Jacob Camenker of Sporting News on Tuesday. Robinson had been the Titans general manager since 2016. In that time, the Titans had a record of 66 wins and 43 losses for a winning percentage of .606.

A major reason for the firing appears to be due to the Titans’s 35-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. In that game, Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown had eight catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns in the Philadelphia rout. Don’t forget, Brown was traded from Tennessee to Philadelphia in the offseason for a first round pick and a third round pick in the 2022 National Football League Draft. The Titans selected wide receiver Treylon Burks from the University of Arkansas with their first round draft pick, and then traded their third round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders.

So far this season, Brown has 61 catches for 950 yards and nine touchdowns. Burks has 25 catches for 359 yards and one touchdown.

It appears Titans ownership felt Tennessee was in a win now mode and did not agree with the Brown deal. At first glance, the firing of Robinson could be considered stunning when you consider the fact the Titans lead the AFC South with a record of seven wins and five losses. However, the Titans were upset 21-20 by the New York Giants in week one, and were completely smoked 41-7 by the Buffalo Bills in week two.

Yes, the Titans will win the AFC South easily, and will probably be the number four seed in the AFC playoffs. But at this time it is unlikely they will have a deep playoff run with the personnel they have. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
