According to Doug Ferguson of The Associated Press on Wednesday, golf legend Tiger Woods of Cypress, California, has been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida for 2022. This is the second honour Woods has received this month as last week he won the 2022 PGA Player Impact Award.

Woods was one of four people inducted this year. He joined four-time women’s golf major champion, Susie Maxwell Berning of Pasadena, California, 1921 United States Women’s Amateur Champion Marion Hollins of Manhattan, New York, and former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem of Ottawa, Illinois.

Berning’s major titles were the 1965 Western Open, along with the 1968, 1972, and 1973 U.S. Women’s Open. She became the third women’s golfer ever to win the U.S. Women’s Open in back-to-back years. She followed Mickey Wright of San Diego, California, (1958 and 1959), and Donna Caponi of Detroit, Michigan (1969 and 1970). Finchem meanwhile was the PGA Tour Commissioner from 1994 to 2016.

Interestingly it is while Finchem was commissioner, that Woods won 14 of his 15 majors, which is the second most of all-time. He won the 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2019 Masters, the 1999, 2000, 2006, and 2007 PGA Championship, the 2000, 2002, and 2008 U.S. Open, and the 2000, 2005, and 2006 British Open. Woods is also tied with Sam Snead for the most PGA Tour wins all-time with 82, and his 18 World Golf Championship titles are the most ever. Woods also has the records for most consecutive cuts made (142), the number of times being named the PGA Tour Player of the Year (11), and the most consecutive United States Amateur Championship titles (three which came from 1994 to 1996).
