Three-way tie at halfway point of the 2024 Masters

We are at the halfway point of the 2024 Masters in Augusta, Georgia, and there are three golfers in the lead. At -6 are Americans Bryson DeChambeau, Max Homa and Scottie Scheffler.

DeChambeau and Scheffler have one major each on their resume. DeChambeau is the 2020 United States Open champion and Scheffler won the Masters in 2022.

So far in the tournament, Homa shot five-under-par in round one and one-under-par in round two. On Thursday, he had seven birdies and two bogeys and on Friday, had two birdies and one bogey. One of Homa’s most impressive shots on Friday came on the fourth hole as he made a 37 foot birdie putt.

DeChambeau was the round one leader at -6. On Friday, he had three birdies and four bogeys to drop one shot from round one. Like Homa, DeChambeau birdied a par three, as he made a seven foot birdie putt on the 12th hole. Then on the 13th hole, DeChambeau still made birdie even though the golf ball from his tee shot went into the forest.

Scheffler was even par on Friday after going -6 on Thursday. In the tournament so far the world number one and the pre-Masters favourite has had nine birdies and three bogeys.

There are three more golfers in contention. They are Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard, Australia’s Cameron Davis and American Collin Morikawa. Hojgaard is all alone in fourth place at -4, while Davis and Morikawa are tied for fifth at -3. Morikawa is a two-time major champion, as he won the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 British Open.
