Three impressive comebacks to start the 2024-25 NBA season

The 2024-25 National Basketball Association regular season is eight days old and already we have seen three teams comeback from a 20-point deficit to win. Those clubs who have emerged victorious are the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors.

Los Angeles Lakers

On Friday, the Lakers were facing a 22 point deficit as they were trailing the Phoenix Suns 48-26, two minutes and 42 seconds into the second quarter. Then the Lakers outscored the Suns the rest of the way 97-68 en route to a 123-116 win. This was the Lakers’s second win of the season as they previously beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 on opening night. In the Lakers’s win over the Suns, the Los Angeles star was power forward Anthony Davis of Chicago, Illinois, who led the team with 35 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Chicago Bulls

On Monday, the Bulls were facing a 20 point deficit as they were trailing the Memphis Grizzlies 50-30 with five minutes and 36 seconds left in the second quarter. Then Chicago outscored Memphis 96-73 the rest of the way for a 126-123 win. Like the Lakers, this was the Bulls’s second win of the season as they previously upset the Milwaukee Bucks 133-122 on Friday. In the Bulls’s win over the Grizzlies, Zach Lavine of Renton, Washington had 30 points, while newly acquired Bulls player Josh Giddey of Melbourne, Australia had a double double, as he had 13 rebounds and 12 points.

Golden State Warriors

On Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Golden State Warriors were without Stephen Curry due to an ankle injury. Things looked bad in the early going as they were down 34-14 thirty seconds into the second quarter. Then the Warriors went on a 110-72 rout the rest of the way en route to a 124-106 win. The Warriors’s star was newly acquired shooting guard Buddy Hield of Freeport, Bahamas, who led the team with 28 points.
