A huge day of feature racing spread between Rosehill and Flemington tomorrow. I’ve opened up the black book and picked out two Waller runners that produced huge runs last start and an emerging sprint star.

Flemington Race 1 – Crystal Pegasus

Crystal Pegasus impressed in a last start victory at Rosehill over this trip. On a day where there was severe leader/fence bias, the 5yos win was all the more dominant after he was able to camp midfield and come down the middle of the track. Chris Waller places his horse with extreme conviction which gives me confidence for this BM84 at Flemington.

Rosehill Race 5 – Able Willie

Able Willie copped a bad check on the home turn when 2nd behind speedster Sky Command on a Canterbury track that was always going to be unsuitable for his conservative race pattern. He was still able to fly home recording impressive closing sectionals but by that stage Sky Command was off and gone. The bigger track and genuine tempo both shape nicely for him here.

Flemington Race 7 – Home Affairs

After his dominant win up the straight in the G1 Coolmore Stakes on this track in the spring, Home Affairs is the new kid on the block against the older sprinters. Before that he was well beaten by Nature Strip in The Everest but I do feel like he is a 3yo that keeps getting better after this service has followed him since his first ever trial as a 2yo.

Last prep it was clear to see he had came back a beast and the Waller yard seems to feel he has improved further more heading into this preparation. I don’t want to buy too much into the fact that James McDonald has jumped off race favourite and champion sprinter Nature Strip as it is common that jockeys receive stallion fee percentages and this guy will no doubt stand as a blockbuster sire, especially if he can take out a feature G1 sprint like this on the back of the Coolmore.

The race maps perfectly for him where from the wide gate he has the option to dictate or outside outside Nature Strip and Eduardo.
