After the weekend of racing we assess the horses you need to forgive, forget and to follow.

Forgive

Smart Image – Peter & Paul Snowden

8th of 8 in the 1200 metre Benchmark 78 Handicap (Rosehill)

The money came for the talented galloper but he didn’t perform to market expectations dropping out to finish a long last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia and is a clear excuse for his poor performance on the day. He will need to trial again to satisfy stewards but his run on Saturday is a clear forgive.

Forget

True Detective – Chris Waller

4th of 9 in the 1500 metre Listed Winter Challenge (Rosehill)

Another solid consistent run by the four-year-old gelding making it four top 4 finishes in a row. He never runs a bad race but is a costly horse for punters especially on Saturday when he was one of the favourites in a wide open field. Time to forget him for a while and wait until he gets back into winning form as the drought continues with his last win on the 13th of June last year.

Follow

Coastwatch – Chris Waller

5th of 10 in the 1200 metre 2YO Handicap (Rosehill)

Was given a chance by many renowned tipsters after his Autumn carnival where he beat Gin Martini, before flopping in the Group 3 Baillieu behind the likes of Saif and Converge. He was posted wide the trip and was entitled to curl up the final 200 metres but kept grinding away and another win is not far away for the Coolmore 2yo.

The Garden – Symon Wilde

3rd of 14 in the 1200 metre Handicap (Caulfield)

Was a big step up for this three-year-old gelding from a maiden to Saturday class but he handled the rise in class well and was highly competitive. Similar to the above runner, The Garden was posted deep the trip and did well to hold onto third. Looks like he should be ready to win in town next start.
