After the weekend of racing we assess the horses you need to forgive, forget and to follow.
Forgive
You Ess Ess Are – Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young
9th of 11 in the 1000 metre 2yo Plate (Cranbourne)
Connections had high hopes in the first with You Ess Ess Are but the short priced favourite simply didn’t handle the ground and was beaten out of sight. She wasn’t the only favourite to go down with the Heavy 10 in play with Station One, Jigsaw and Real Sensation all beaten by a fair margin. The two-year-old filly now heads for a spell and must be forgive after her one and only start there on Saturday.
Mr Roger – Richard Laming
Failed to Finish of 9 in the 1300 metre Benchmark 70 (Cranbourne)
Coming into the last race on the card trainer Richard Laming had two live hopes in Mr Roger and The General. The latter ran 2nd (beaten 5 lengths) but it was Mr Roger who was under some concern being eased out of the race before the turn. Unfortunately the horse bled in both nostrils and will now need to trial for the satisfaction of stewards before racing again. Clear forgive.

Forget
Love Tap – Richard & Michael Freedman
3rd of 6 in the 1850 metre Benchmark 88 (Newcastle)
Probably a little harsh but after a solid run in the Golden Eagle first up he was expected to feature in the finish on Saturday. Down in benchmark 88 grade the grey gelding never really proved a threat to the Chris Waller quinella. The four-year-old left connections with high expectations after a stunning first preparation but he hasn’t really gone on with it. Time to give him a miss until he recaptures some of his three-year-old form.

Signore Fox – Peter & Paul Snowden
5th of 15 in the 1300 metre The Hunter (Newcastle)
Was arguably the run of the day from the outside gate in the feature race of the day. He was forced to go back from the gate but was absolutely rocketing home and doesn’t look far off from a major win. Jockey Brodie Loy was confident that it was the gate that beat him saying after the race “If he draws a gate he wins”. The six-year-old could head to the George Moore next up on the 4th December at Doomben.
