The Everest Gets Bigger – Why?
3 years ago - Sportingbase
Is there a sensible reason as to why The Everest will be worth $20 million this year?
I would suggest the owners of last year’s winner Giga Kick would be happy with the extra money if they won it again but would they notice? Surely there are infrastructure programs or the increase in prizemoney to lower class races that could be helped.
Only recently Racing Victoria said they weren’t going to continue in the arms race to have the highest prizemoney races.
Already Giga Kick has won $9.6 million from 10 starts. The sky is the limit for him.
On the subject of the sprinter, it’s not out of the question he can usurp Anamoe as the Racehorse Of The Year something he looked to have all wrapped up.
His last two starts produced Group 1 wins and he also won the Everest so that’s three of Australia’s biggest sprint races.
Five Group 1 wins including the Cox Plate though should keep it with Anamoe though but it could be a tighter vote than expected.
