For the fifth time, Team Europe has won the Laver Cup. On Sunday, from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany, Europe defeated Team World 13-11.

Team Europe was comprised of 2020 United States Open finalist and 2024 French Open finalist Alexander Zverev of Germany, four-time grand slam champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain (2022 United States Open, 2023 Wimbledon, 2024 French Open, and 2024 Wimbledon), Daniil Medvedev of Russia (2021 United States Open champion), three-time grand slam finalist Casper Ruud of Norway (2022 and 2023 French Open, and 2022 United States Open), three-time grand slam semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria (2014 Wimbledon, 2017 Australian Open and 2019 United States Open), and 2021 French Open finalist and 2023 Australian Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece. Of the players on Team Europe, five players were ranked inside the top 10. Zverev was second, Alcaraz was third, Medvedev was fifth, Ruud was ninth and Dimitrov was 10th.

After the first day, Europe and the World team were tied at two. The European team got wins from Tsitsipas and Dimitrov. After the World Team won three of four matches on day two to take an 8-4 lead, Europe bounced back with nine of a possible 12 points on Sunday to win 13-11. After Alcaraz beat Ben Shelton on Saturday, 6-4, 6-4, Europe won three of the four matches on Sunday. Alcaraz and Ruud teamed up to beat Shelton and Frances Tiafoe in doubles, 6-2, 7-6, before Zverev beat Tiafoe 6-7, 7-5, [10-5], and Alcaraz beat Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5.

In the Laver Cup format, a first day win is one point a second day win is two points, and a third day win is three points. If singles matches are tied after one set, there is a super tiebreak.  Europe’s four prior Laver Cup wins came in 2017 in Prague, 2018 in Chicago, 2019 in Geneva, and in 2021 in Boston.
