Super Bowl LVII will feature battle of the brothers

One of the uniques stories of the Super Bowl on Sunday is the fact that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce of Westlake, Ohio, and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce of Greenville, North Carolina are brothers. Jason Kelce is 35 years of age while Travis Kelce is 33 years of age. The brothers were raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, both attended Cleveland Heights High School and then the University of Cincinnati.

Jason Kelce was with the Bearcats from 2006 to 2010, before being drafted in the sixth round, 191st overall, by the Eagles in the 2011 NFL Draft. Travis Kelce was with the Bearcats from 2008 to 2012, before being drafted in the third round, 63rd overall, by the Chiefs in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Both brothers have won a Super Bowl in the past. Jason was part of the Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII in 2018. The Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33. Travis was part of the Chiefs team that won Super Bowl LIV. The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20.

Both players have been selected to the Pro Bowl. Travis has been selected every year from 2015 to 2022. Jason has been selected six times–in 2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

While Jason Kelce may be considered an elite center, let’s not kid ourselves. Travis Kelce needs to be put in the conversation as one of the very best tight ends ever. This season, he had 110 catches for 1338 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns. For his career, Kelce has 814 catches for 10344 yards and 69 major scores. In the postseason, he has 127 catches for 1467 yards and 15 touchdowns.
