Steve Ballmer declared richest owner in professional sports

According to Jeremy Willis of ESPN on Wednesday, Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has been declared the richest owner in professional sports–not just in the United States, but the entire world by Forbes Magazine. Ballmer currently has a net worth of $91.4 billion, and is the 10th richest person in the entire world.
Ballmer generated his fame by being the chief executive officer of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014. The other nine billionaires who are richer than Ballmer are Tesla, SpaceX and Boring Company founder Elon Musk of Pretoria, South Africa ($263.2 billion), Louis Vuitton chairman Bernard Arnault of Roubaix, France ($142.9 billion), Amazon founder Jeff Bezos of Albuquerque, New Mexico ($141.4 billion), Adani Group founder Gautam Adani of Ahmedabad, India ($138.5 billion), Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates of Seattle, Washington ($114 billion), investor extraordinaire Warren Buffett of Omaha, Nebraska ($102 billion), Google co-founders Larry Page of Lansing, Michigan ($98.7 billion), and Sergey Brin of Moscow, Russia ($94.4 billion) and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison of New York City, New York ($92.7 billion).

Of the 10 billionaires on the list, Bezos and Ellison also has a strong connection to the sports world at the moment. Bezos is in charge of Amazon Prime, which bought the Thursday night television rights for the National Football League this year for a staggering $1 billion. Ellison meanwhile bought the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in 2009 for a staggering $100 million. Regarded as one of the most beautiful tennis complexes in the world, the Indian Wells tennis complex is located in southern California in the Palm Springs region. The 2022 Indian Wells champions are Iga Swiatek of Poland and Taylor Fritz of the United States.
