Stephen Curry wins second NBA All-Star Game MVP
1 year ago - Sportingbase
For the second time in his career, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio was the most valuable player of the National Basketball Association All-Star Game. He accomplished the feat in a 41-25 win by Shaq’s OGs over Chuck’s Global Stars on Curry’s home court at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
There was a different format this year. There were three mini-games (two semi-final games and one championship final). The players were separated into four teams with the honourary general managers being four commentators on TNT (Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Candace Parker.
In the semifinals, the Global Stars (managed by Barkley) beat the Young Stars (managed by Smith) 41-32, and the OGs (managed by O’Neal) beat the Rising Stars (managed by Parker) 42-35. Then in the final, the OGs beat the Global Stars 41-25.
In the mini-tournament, Curry led the OGs in each game in a category that he does not normally lead his team in, and that is rebounding. He had six in the semifinals, and four in the finals for 10 overall. Curry, who was previously the NBA All-Star MVP in 2022, had the most impressive shot in the final as he scored on a three-point shot from mid court.
When Curry was the NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2022, he scored an impressive 50 points. In his career, he has 13 50-point games. Curry had a career-high 62 points in a 137-122 Warriors win over the Portland Trail Blazers on January 3, 2021, and has the NBA record for most points in a game seven of the NBA Playoffs (50), which was set on April 30, 2023 in a 120-110 Warriors win over the Sacramento Kings.
