Stephen Curry makes NBA history with the most three-pointers all-time

When it comes to three-point shots made in National Basketball Association history, we now have a new person at number one. On Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry made his 2974th three-point shot to pass Ray Allen on the all-time list.
Curry accomplished the feat in a 105-96 Golden State win over New York on Tuesday night with his second three-point shot made in the contest. It came on a 28 foot jump shot from Andrew Wiggins with four minutes and 27 seconds into the contest to put the Warriors up 12-10 at the time.
Curry finished the night with 22 points to lead all Warriors in scoring. Of his 22 points, he had five three-pointers, to extend his all-time record to 2977, four more than Allen.
It should be noted that it took Allen 1300 games to have 2973 three point shots made. Curry has accomplished the feat in 789 games.
The fact that Curry has the record for most three-point shots made should come as no surprise. He takes a lot of three-point attempts, which is a major part of the Warriors game plan. Curry’s 363 three point attempts lead the NBA. Over the last decade, Curry has led the NBA in three-point attempts seven times, including a career-high 886 three point attempts in the 2015-16 season.

If you are a regular reader of the Sporting Base, it should be of no surprise that Curry made NBA history on Tuesday. Over the last year, he has set the NBA records for fewest games in a season to reach 100 three-pointers (19 in 2021-22), the most NBA three shots made in the regular season and playoffs (3359), and the NBA record for most three shots made in a month (85 in April of this year).
With the win, the Warriors improved to a NBA best 23 wins and five losses. The Knicks meanwhile dropped to 12 wins and 16 losses.
