Stefanos Tsitsipas wins 2025 Dubai Tennis Championship

Stefanos Tsitsipas of Athens, Greece has won the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championship. On Saturday, he defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada in the final, 6-3, 6-3.
For Tsitsipas, it was his 12th ATP title, but first title at the 500 series level. Tsitsipas had previously won seven titles at the 250 level (2018 Stockholm Open, 2019 and 2020 Open 13 in Marseille, France, 2019 Estoril Open in Portugal, 2021 Lyon Open, 2022 Mallorca Open and 2023 Los Cabos Open), the 2019 ATP Finals in London, and three tournaments at the Tennis Masters 1000 series level (the 2021, 2022 and 2024 Monte Carlo Masters).
Tsitsipas, the fourth seed in Dubai, is a two-time grand slam finalist as he made the final two at the 2021 French Open and 2023 Australian Open. Auger-Aliassime’s best grand slam result was making the semifinals of the 2021 United States Open.
In the final, Tsitsipas broke Auger-Aliassime three times in six opportunities. Auger-Aliassime had seven break point opportunities but could not break Tsitsipas once.
This was the second time in his career that Tsitsipas has beaten Auger-Aliassime in an ATP Final. The first time was the 2020 Open 13 in Marseille, which Tsitsipas won 6-3, 6-4.
In addition to beating Auger-Aliassime, Tsitsipas beat two other opponents in Dubai who have had deep runs at grand slam tournaments in the past. He beat Karen Khachanov of Russia 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 in the second round, and Matteo Berrettini of Italy 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Khachanov has reached the semifinals of the United States Open in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2023, and Berrettini has reached the finals of the Wimbledon in 2021.
Tsitsipas moved up two spots in the world rankings with Indian Wells set to begin on Wednesday. He is now in the top 10 after going from 11th to ninth.
