Stalled Sharks talks will see Trindall hit open waters in November

Braydon Trindall is expected to still be a free agent when the looming November 1 deadline hits, with the breakout Sharks star still waiting to hear back from Cronulla’s negotiators regarding a new deal beyond 2025.
The Sharks are still quietly confident they can strike a bargain with the 25-year-old before November crunch time, but that’s looking more and more unlikely by the day.

The situation comes from Cronulla’s own making too, with the club originally opening talks with the versatile playmaker before shelving them as the 2024 NRL finals got underway. This tactic was mainly, The Sporting Base has been told, to remove any distractions for the team; it may well be what eventually delivers Trindall to any of several now-interested NRL rivals.
Trindall’s become hot property quite quickly in the NRL world, with the Wee Waa-born Queenslander outshining Nicho Hynes in the middle of the paddock. Most recently, he was the key that unlocked the North Queensland Cowboys last Friday.
The rapid rise to prominence has seen several NRL clubs begin putting together offer dossiers.
Among the interested parties are the Canterbury Bulldogs, Gold Coast Titans, and St George Illawarra Dragons. The last of those may have the best chance, should Trindall want to leave, considering how much of a war chest the rebuilding Wollongong club has at its fingertips.
Channel Nine’s also claimed the Broncos are looking but The Sporting Base understands this is not quite true. Instead, Brisbane prefers a junior coming through the ranks: Coby Black. The 18-year-old has long been considered the heir apparent to the no.7 at Red Hill and should replace Adam Reynolds in the next few years.

Should Trindall test the waters, he could command as much as $600,000 to $700,000; a huge turnaround for the 25-year-old who faced being cut heading into this latest NRL season.
