So-mi Lee leads after round two of the 2025 Evian Championship

So-mi Lee of Yongin City, South Korea is the leader after the second round of the 2025 Evian Championship in France. Lee is currently at -10 after posting the best second round score on Friday of -6.

In the second round, Lee had six birdies, one eagle and two bogeys in posting a score of six-under-par 65. She eagled the par five ninth hole, birdied the first, seventh, 11th, 13th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the sixth and 14th holes. This was the second straight day Lee had an eagle. In the first round, she eagled the par five seventh hole. On Thursday, Lee also had four birdies and two bogeys in her score of 67 (four under par). She birdied the first, ninth, 14th and 15th holes, and bogeyed the second and 17th holes.

This is the seventh time in Lee’s golf career that she made a cut at a major. Her best result at a major was an eighth place finish at the 2025 Women’s PGA Championship.

There are five other golfers in contention and in striking distance of Lee. Grace Kim of Sydney, Australia is all alone in second place at -9, while American Jennifer Kupcho of Littleton, Colorado is all alone in third place at -8. There is then a three-way tie for fourth place at -7. There you can find South Korea’s Hye-Jin Choi, South Africa’s Casandra Alexander, and American Andrea Lee of Los Angeles, California. Kupcho is a major champion from the past as she won the 2022 Chevron Championship, the last year the major was in Rancho Mirage, California. Meanwhile, Kupcho, Andrea Lee, and Kim were the co-leaders after the first round of the Evian Championship at -6.

In other Evian Championship news, English star Charley Hull fell twice in round one and was taken off the course via a stretcher. Hull, withdrew from the tournament, went to hospital, and reported on Instagram, that she was experiencing a virus.
