In a move that will make Brisbane Broncos fans across the city and Australia happy, Reece Walsh has declared he wants to stay at Red Hill for life and has publicly urged the club to get his extension sorted as quickly as possible.
Walsh, who is still only 21, is off contract at the end of the 2025 NRL season and could speak to suitors from as early as November.

The Broncos fullback is set to represent Queensland at fullback in the upcoming State of Origin series and already ranks among the best number ones in the game, but sensationally is only earning around $400,000 a year. That pay packet is expected to leap by a huge margin, likely into seven figures, with Walsh’s next playing deal.
The 21-year-old isn’t worried about the coin though; all he wants is a Broncos extension.
“The Broncos are a massive part of me being here [in Origin] and I love the club. I want to be here for a long time and all that [contract] stuff will get sorted,” he said on the opening day of Queensland’s Origin camp when asked. “I love the club, I followed them as a kid and all that stuff will get sorted out when it gets sorted out.
“I love the people involved in the club and what they stand for. [The Broncos] have amazing values.
“We have an amazing city, we have amazing fans, they turn up every single week and make it enjoyable to play for the club and come to training.”
While there’s been no formal inroads on the deal yet, The Sporting Base understands the Broncos have already opened unofficial conversations with Walsh’s management. Early days in the negotiations have seen figures northward of $1,300,000 thrown around, with the deal likely to stretch through to the end of Brisbane’s 2030 campaign.

“We’re doing everything we can to retain Reece,” Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy told NRL media earlier this month. Brisbane has stayed relatively quiet outside that declaration.
