Show me the money: Tuipulotu extends his Dragons stay

This campaign’s leading tryscorer at the St George Illawarra Dragons, Christian Tuipulotu, has put pen to paper on a one-season extension that will now see him stay in the Red V until at least the end of next year.
The Dragons have shown Tuipulotu the money (Shane Flanagan, look away), with the Tongan international’s red-hot start to 2025 both in tryscoring and early set involvements a key factor.

“We’re really pleased with Christian’s development this year,” Flanagan said.
“His strong carries from the backfield are just as important as his finishing and we’re glad to be able to extend his stay at the club.”
Tuipulotu won the wing spot at the Dragons through 2024 after scoring eight tries in 12 appearances. Before his move to the joint venture, Tuipulotu had played 32 matches for the Manly Sea Eagles and originally debuted for the Sydney Roosters in 2020; he played just one game for the Bondi club that year.
With his future locked in for at least another 18 months, Tuipulotu is all in on making sure the Dragons play finals in 2025. Hopes on that front have taken a dent after the club has started 1-3, but the 24-year-old sees things turning around — if they can find consistency.
“We don’t want to just do it against tough teams like the Storm, but to all,” he said.
“We’re not too worried about big changes that we need to make within our system because we believe in the plan that our coaches set for us and it’s just about us delivering on the day.”
“I know we’re capable [of] paying attention to the small details of the game and getting it right.”
