Shake Milton heating up from three point range

The Philadelphia 76ers are playing better basketball as of late. They are winners of six of their last nine after losing four straight games at the end of January and into early February.

Over the last three games, 76ers have got strong offense from an unlikely source. Even though he is averaging only 8.8 points per game in 2019-20, 76ers shooting guard Shake Milton of Owasso, Oklahoma made NBA history on Sunday in Philadelphia’s 136-130 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. According to ESPN, Milton tied the NBA record for the most consecutive three points made in a single season with 13. He equaled the record previously set by Terry Mills of the Detroit Pistons during the 1996-97 season and Brent Price of the Washington Bullets during the 1995-96 season. The Bullets changed their name to the Washington Wizards for the 1996-97 season.

During the streak, Milton made three consecutive three-pointers in a 108-94 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 26, five consecutive three pointers in a 115-106 win over the New York Knicks on February 27 and five consecutive three pointers against the Clippers. Milton also had a career high 39 points against the Clippers. During the game, he had five assists, three rebounds and one steal. Milton also shot seven of nine shots from beyond the arc and made 14 of 20 field goal attempts.

Philadelphia is currently tied for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with the Indiana Pacers at 37 wins and 24 losses. If Milton is able to produce offensively, he should be able top help Philadelphia get some secondary scoring as they push towards the playoffs.
